E15 Myths & SolarWind Lawsuit

E15 Myths & SolarWind Lawsuit. I’m Greg Martin with today’s Northwest Report.

Tom Bius, CEO for Growth Energy has responded to a study released by the Coordinating Research Council that says some automobiles could be harmed when using ethanol blends like E15. Bius says the most irresponsible thing this nation can do is continue its addiction to foreign oil - which he notes has cost the U.S. trillions of dollars, tens of thousands of lives and injuries.

BIUS: We spend over $50-billion dollars a year just protecting the shipping lane for our addiction to foreign oil. We can do better and the trumpeters for the status quo is why this nation is not less dependent on foreign oil today than we should be. And if we’re going to move forward to higher blends there I think it’s just another hurdle by those opposed trying to get some press and generate some criticism of moving to E15.

SolarWind Industries America out of Hillsboro, Oregon has won a trade complaint in court against Chinese solar panels and cells. The U.S. response is to slap tariffs of up to 250% on the imported solar products. SolarWind employs 1000 people and they contend that China's government illegally subsidizes Chinese companies that sell panels and solar cells in the United States at unfair prices.

Now here’s today’s Washington Grange report.
