  For those producers out there who may be experiencing increasing weed resistance in their crops, BASF presents research on a new herbicide at an annual Weed Science Society meeting. BASF scientists say that their research confirms excellent weed control and crop safety with an innovative new dicamba formulation. BASF Crop Protection has recently presented research related to the Engenia^™ herbicide, the company’s next-generation formulation of dicamba. Engenia will be an important new tool for growers battling herbicide- resistant weeds. Here is BASF  spokesperson Luke Bozeman: “Roundup Ready crops have  been tremendously successful and with that success at the grower level there’s  been a very high reliance on glyphosate and in that case there have been some weed species that have developed resistance and I think what dicamba brings to that system is a new mode of action to be used in crop that currently is not available. What we have seen with the industry is a better understanding of the need for diversity of approaches to manage weeds.”
