5-3 IAN Wyatt Animal Cruelty

When it comes to cruelty to animals, the Idaho Cattlemen’s Association has put their foot down.

I had a chat with Wyatt Prescott, executive director of the Idaho Cattlemen’s Association concerning their stance on animal cruelty. Let me put it this way. Listen to Wyatt and there won’t be much doubt about how strongly he feels. “Essentially Idaho Cattlemen’s Association ran a piece of legislation, Senate Bill 1303, that seeks to put a felony provision on repeat violators of animal cruelty. We sought to do so because as an industry our job is taking care of animals, providing them with the best possible care. we don’t condone any cruel behavior. You are only capable or eligible for that felony if you are maliciously and intentionally committing cruelty to that animal. What do you mean by this repeated act of animal cruelty? How do you define that? Oh I don’t know how about somebody who repeatedly drops cats off of bridges. There are heinous people out there that we don’t want to see getting away with that.
