3-28 SS Simpson Otter Wolf

A senator speaks out about our right to control wolves. One way to control wolves is to allow hunting…wolves. I’m speaking out to you listeners particularly in Oregon who have agonized over the devastating effects that wolves have not just on cow herds but on elk herds as well. Idaho seems to get the picture. Idaho Congressman Mike Simpson recently questioned Fish and Wildlife Service Director Dan Ashe regarding invasive species and wolves.   Mr. Simpson was quoted as saying:“In Idaho it is difficult to think of the Fish and Wildlife Service without thinking first and foremost of threatened and endangered species. Whether it’s to save snails or slickspot peppergrass, the last thing Idahoans want is the federal government telling them what they can’t do on their own land or otherwise disrupting a sustainable way of life they’ve known for generations.  There has got to be a better way to properly balance recovery with people’s livelihoods.” I asked Idaho’s Gov. Otter how he felt about environmental lawyers helping to dictate federal policy imposed  on individual states. He has close ties with Mr. Simpson. “I think it’s dead wrong and I think those guys are going to fix it.” Well I guess there isn’t much beating around the bush for Idaho politicians when it comes to the subject of how we manage our own wildlife. Probably wouldn’t be a bad idea to write to your politicians and let them know how you feel. You want the right to hunt and don’t want to be told by a Washington Beltway bureaucrat what  you can do when you are out in the bush yourself.
