3-20 SS Turkey Girl

You call a turkey sometimes with a mouth call and you go yip yip, but what about getting the yips  when you’re trying to shoot one?

Dustin  DeRouen is a professional outfitter and guides all over the country.  As a father himself, he is particularly fond of introducing children to the outdoors. Listen to this story as he takes a friends daughter, Samantha on a deer or turkey hunt, which ever comes 1st.  “When I got into guiding about 6 years ago, I had a father come up to me and asked me if I would like to go and sit with her and see if she could harvest a deer. He told us if we saw a turkey we could go out and shoot a turkey. We got in the stand and everything was going great, we saw a couple of deer, none of them was the shooter that we wanted, and then along came a group of turkeys. I got her set up, she was 7 years old at the time, the chair was too short for her, everything was going wrong, so I sat her up on my knee. I lifted her up as high as I could and told her I was going to start calling the turkeys in. I didn’t have any turkey calls with me so I just used my voice and here came the turkeys within about 35 yards, she got already and told me to go ahead and push the safety and I pushed the safety but her nerves kicked in. I told her to just calm down and then I called in some more and she shot one. After that her father said I’ve been hunting for 35 years and never gotten a turkey, can I sit in your lap?
