3-19 SS Bo's Fish
Go with your instincts. Keep the faith. Don’t waver in your resolve.Never say never to a new fishing spot.
Flyfishing guru Josh Mills told me a story in which he had gone fishing on the Grande Ronde River and had caught a huge steel head, as in around 15 pounds the day before. Let’s pick up the story from there as Josh starts off by describing the fish he caught. “It’s one of those fish that if you are a fisherman it’s like you have to catch your breath. The next day I’m out with my friend Bo and my father and my buddy and I are about 40 yards apart, he’s just below me, we are fishing a run we had never fished before, and were both going we haven’t caught anything here before, or I don’t know, or gosh why are we here, and sure enough he hooks into an even bigger fish. This one took him about 25 min. to land and was about 36 inches long weighing 16 or 17 pounds. Big male, with a big hooked jaw and had done battle to get where it was.”
One of the things that I love about Josh is his pure delight in the whole art of fishing. He loves to share. It doesn’t matter whether it is information, opinion, experiences, Josh is a true sportsman. I can promise you that he was as thrilled for his buddy Bo as he would be for himself when Bo landed that fish. Not to say he isn’t competitive but he does not resent or envy somebody else’s success. That’s a true sportsman.
