3-9 SS Skated fly

The skated drive fly experience. Know what that is? Well if you don’t you’re going to in a minute and if you do you’ll be envious.

Josh Mills know so much about flyfishing that it is scary. Today he is going to discuss the so-called skated dry fly experience.   “We were going through this area and all of the conditions were exactly right. There was a low light level meaning that it was towards the end of the afternoon, we had cloud cover so that it was not direct sunlight, I put on a dry fly called a scopper that you skate and pop across the surface in an arcing sweeping motion. 1st cast with my spey rod, started swinging it and this steelhead actually tried to kill this bug. There is nothing like an 8 to 10 pound fish crashing down on your fly. It is all visual, all right there. Imagine a little cut throat coming on top of a little fly. Now imagine this with a 10 pound fish. Within an hour I had hooked 7 fish and landed 2. And my buddy is a hundred yards up the bank and I kept yelling come on over here. The next morning I came back with my dad, he caught to and we finally had that skated fly experience that everybody talks about.
