Washington Farm Labor Conference

Washington Farm Labor Conference. I’m Greg Martin with today’s Fruit Grower Report.

Dan Fazio heads up the Washington Farm Labor Association and this year’s conference is taking place this week in Ellensburg.

FAZIO: We have our 8th Annual Labor Conference coming up Greg and it’s February 16th. all day. And then we have a special reception the evening before for Washington State University School of Agriculture. It’s a reception, speakers and some leadership training from 5-7 the evening before and then all day on the 16th.

Fazio says there is a lot of good information at this year’s meeting.

FAZIO: We have over 20 speakers, we have 16 sessions. The biggest ones are labor relations or talk about labor unions. We have several attorneys to talk about a union organization campaign that’s going on in the dairy farm in Pasco. And then people are very interested healthcare and we have some top healthcare folks to talk about how employers are going to manage that whole program.

You still have time to register. Just log onto www.wafla.org.

FAZIO: Employers are sending 2 and 3 people because there’s so much information at the labor conference. Not too late to register. We’ll take registrations right up until Tuesday afternoon. And the conference is Thursday and Friday. Again the reception is Thursday and Friday all day, 8:30 to 5 o’clock for the 8th Annual Washington Farm Labor Association Labor Conference
