2-17 SS Phone Call

 A listener contests the theory presented by retired fish and game official that wolves will not attack humans. Continuing from yesterday, where I said I had received an e-mail from Ron Prentice of Alaska that contested the notion that wolves will not prey upon humans, I made a phone call. Ron was very pleasant and polite but had a point to make. Here’s the conversation: “I think both sides of the story need to be told and that is the reason that I rebutted Ed Bangs interview. I am 60 years old. My uncle was one of the 1^st outfitters in Alaska so I have been around the wolf deal for a long time. The wolves were trapped out for good reason, they  were killing everything in sight. They are land sharks. I am an animal biologist with a degree from Montana State University. My thing is that it needs to be fair and just and there is a whole list, if you look up wolf attacks USA there is a whole document of wolf attacks that have happened and for somebody that is as professional as Mr. Bangs to make light of that really bothers me. Listen. I am all for hunting wolves. They are our renders predators and have decimated the ungulate population in Idaho. The only issue we are talking about here is their predilection to attack humans. Read the article. If you will Google  “wolf attacks Alaskan schoolteacher” that article will come up. Beautiful young lady out walking around and was attacked and dragged off into the brush and eaten.
