2-1 IAN Research to Revenue
Money leads to research, research leads to discoveries, discoveries lead to improvements and, ultimately improvements end up putting money in everybody’s pocket. Sound like a rosey a look at life? Maybe so but why not, it’s true. In the words of Dean John Hammel of the College of Agricultural and Life Sciences. “There is a public-private partnership which is a win for all of us, and especially for Idaho and the Pacific Northwest wheat industry. I spoke with Donn Thill, director, Idaho Agricultural Experiment Station about these various endowments: “That, of course is tied to our commitment to fill 5 positions here in the college that will be associated with small grain wheat production which is all part of a whole package that needs the final leg of continued support from the state for our ag research and extension budget so it is a multi-legged stool I guess. It is always good to hear research funding that is coming in and that seems to be a product that is lost on so many people. Absolutely. It reflects the commitment of the wheat industry in the state of Idaho to support research that will benefit their industry. We are their research and development arm.”
