My Plate Video Challenge & Avalanche Alley Plus So Long 2011

My Plate Video Challenge & Avalanche Alley Plus So Long 2011. I’m Greg Martin with today’s Northwest Report.

Winter weather is causing problems across the northwest from high winds and rain along the coast to snow in the mountain passes. A 12-mile stretch of Idaho 21 known as “Avalanche Alley” was closed yesterday and will be closed until further notice. The shut down is between the Grandjean Junction and Banner Summit. Officials say this move is an avalanche precaution for travelers' safety.

Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack has announced the winners of the MyPlate Fruits and Veggies Video Challenge. Dozens of entries demonstrated innovative ways to make half your plate fruits and vegetables with skits, songs, and dance. Each video provided a unique point of view to inspire adults and children to eat healthier and illustrated that fruits and vegetables can be a part of any household budget.

Now here’s today’s Washington Grange report.
