12-30 FB Update on Cob Ethanol
Updates from a promise made over one year ago. Corncobs, corn husks into ethanol with no corn kernels. One year ago I asked Dave Bushong, the general manager at POET Research Center in Scotland, S.D. this question: “Is it possible for the U.S. to become energy independent in the next 20 years? “Absolutely. I think ethanol can replace gasoline in the next 20 years.” And dairy producers and feedlot operators need not be too, too anxious about it because it’s not all about corn. It’s about corn cobs and other stuff!! I called Mr. Bushong the other day…listen to that conversation. “ Do you continue to make progress on extracting ethanol from biomass? Yes we are David. We are building a plant and fine tuning the process of getting ethanol out of everything that goes through the combine.”
