12-7 IAN Idaho Soil and Water
A recent press release announced that Gov. Otter had appointed 2 new commissioners to The Idaho Soil & Water Conservation Commission. After receiving the press release I just mentioned, I wondered who The Idaho Soil & Water Conservation Commission was so I went to their website and found out about their mission. It said their mission was to facilitate coordinated non-regulatory, voluntary, and locally-led conservation by federal, state, and local governments including Idaho’s conservation districts and other partners to conserve, sustain, improve, and enhance soil, water, air, plant, and animal resources. That sounded like an ag to me so I called up Teri Murrison who is their administrator. Here is what she had to say: “The Idaho Soil & Water Conservation Commission was created by the legislature to assist locally led conservation districts to work with agricultural land owners to use practices that will benefit the environment and production agriculture.” Well that sounds like an excellent mission and 0h, By the Way, the 2 new commissioners are H. Norman Wright of American Falls and Gerald Trebesch of Boise. It might come as some relief and is more than comforting that both of these men that serve such key positions in agriculture have agricultural backgrounds. Imagine that. Good choice Governor Otter.
