New Wine Partnership

New Wine Partnership

New Wine Partnership. I’m Greg Martin with today’s Fruit Grower Report.

The Washington Wine Commission is partnering with a Seattle group to help grow and improve their annual “Taste” event. Ryan Pennington, Public Relations Director for the Wine Commission.

PENNINGTON: The Wine Commission has partnered with the Seattle Convention and Visitors Bureau to produce “Taste Washington.” They will bring to the table great relationships with the hotel and restaurant community and the ability to attract high level sponsors of national calibre to help grow the event.

He says they have always looked at the event as more of a national event.

PENNINGTON: This announcement on “Taste Washington” is the evolution of work that’s really been on-going since the event was founded we’ve always been looking to grow it into more of a national destination event and this partnership will enable us to do that.

Of course this doesn’t mean the Wine Commission is stepping back.

PENNINGTON: The Commission will continue to be involved, working hand-in-hand with them to handle all of the wine related aspects of the event. Recruiting wineries to participate. It’s still the single largest, single region wine event in the country with more than 200 wineries every year. We will continue to manage that aspect as well as the seminars that focus on studying various related wine aspects of the industry.

Taste Washington runs March 31st and April 1st in 2012. More tomorrow.

That’s today’s Fruit Grower Report. I’m Greg Martin on the Ag Information Network.
