Artificial intelligence is infiltrating every aspect of food and farming - which includes crop insurance. And while some agents are taking advantage of the latest in technology, that doesn’t diminish the vital role of the insurance agent. Till Insurance founding partner Tom Cole says a good risk management advisor will remain critical in the future of crop insurance.

Cole… “ In terms of the relationship with your agent, we don't view that going anywhere. We think a grower needs to spend most of their time thinking about their operation, and there should be an advisor in the picture who, who is, uh, who is studying that full time and, and giving the, the best possible advice. Uh, I think what we'll see in, in crop insurance is a reversion to simpler products coming out of the RMA. Right now, it's a very complicated program. The program should and will be simplified over the next five to ten years. But the actual relationship that a grower has with their crop insurance agent, you know, that won't change just because of how complex and how important staying up to speed it is for an agent.”
