Grape Meeting

Grape Meeting

Grape Meeting. I’m Greg Martin with today’s Fruit Grower Report.

It’s meeting time and coming up this week things get started with the Washington Grape Society. Here’s Deb Heintz, Executive Director of the society.

HEINTZ: The Washington State Grape Society is having their annual meeting Thursday and Friday, November 17th & 18th and with that we have some keynote speakers that we have asked to come in. One Gina Nicholson from the Kroger Corporation and the other is Kristine Rogers and she’s from the Fred Meyer Corporation so they’re going to be talking about selling food safety from the top down.

The topic talks about it being everyones responsibility and because of that Heintz says they are extending their invitation.

HEINTZ: We’ve also extended that invitation out to the tree fruit industry as well because that does affect them in their reporting. We have a couple of funding topics both at the federal level where we’ll be hearing from Doc Hastings and then at the state level.

Trent Ball will be giving attendees the “State of the grape” report. This years meeting is a bit of a milestone.

HEINTZ: We’re looking back at 40 years with the Washington State Grape Society and how the organization has evolved. On Friday we offer 5 pesticide credits. Also at the noontime we offer a catered luncheon and we’ll have an awards presentation.

For more information or to register contact them at GrapeSociety.org.
