Trade Mission To Vietnam & More Gun Owners

Trade Mission To Vietnam & More Gun Owners. I’m Greg Martin with today’s Northwest Report.

Ag Secretary Tom Vilsack will be traveling to Vietnam next month on a trade mission to hopefully open up more of the export market..

VILSACK: We’re announcing that I’ll be traveling not just to China but we’re also going to making a trip to Vietnam. I’ve been told that I’m the first sitting Secretary of Agriculture to go to Vietnam. It’s an opportunity for us to continue to be able to build on what we think will be another record opportunity in exports as well as having discussions on a variety of topics including our favorite topic of beef.

Vietnam has moved from being the 50th ranked ag goods market to the 15th in just the last 10 years.

Nearly half of Americans say they have a gun in their household, the highest percentage since 1993, according to a new Gallup poll. Forty-seven percent of Americans say they have a gun on their property. Gun ownership is up among Republicans as well as Democrats, though only 40 percent of Democrats say their home has a gun, compared to 55 percent of Republicans. Support for personal gun-ownership rights is also at a high. Reported gun ownership dropped sharply in the early 1990s and remained in the low 40s until today.

Now here’s today’s Washington Grange report.
