Farm Credit Scholarships

I’m Greg Martin with today’s AgriBeef Minute. Any parent knows that sending your kids off to college is an expensive prospect and you can definitely use all the help you can get. Northwest Farm Credit Services has a program that just might help.
GILKEY: Northwest Farm Credit Services has been providing scholarships for the past 17 years and in 2012 we will provide 8 high school senior scholarships of $15-hundred dollars and 3 college scholarships of $15-hundred dollars.
KayDee Gilkey, Communications and PR with Northwest Farm Credit Services says there are some definite benefits to their program.
GILKEY: Often times for rural communities it is a challenge to find those scholarship opportunities and we feel as a cooperative that it’s really important to help our customers in many different ways. And so this is one of our value adds at Northwest Farm Credit Services provides for our customers sons or daughters as well as their employees and or their sons or daughters.
And she talks about how you can apply.
GILKEY: For eligible students who would like to apply for our scholarship they can either go to their local branch or they can go online to farm-credit.com and find the scholarship tab, the application is there, it’s a writable PDF and it is due back if they are a high school senior to their local branch. If they are a college student there is a mailing address on the application - due March 1st of 2012.
