10-5 Derby results

With $15,000 on the line in a recent fishing derby, we wondered how things turned out.

Super angler Peter Flohr  from Hooked on Toys in Wenatchee, Washington called me up to announce the results from a Pike Minnow Derby out of Crescent Bar and a salmon derby that the Knights of Columbus in Griggs put on a couple of weekends ago. In the Pike Minnow Derby there was one fish tagged with $10,000 and four others worth $5000. Here’s Peter:  “It went real well. A lot of people participated. A lot of fish caught. We picked up 7 on Friday morning. If I recall correctly Peter, there was some pretty serious cash for a tagged fish, correct? There was. Nobody caught a tagged fish. The fishing was a little bit tough, we didn’t get the numbers we were looking for but overall there was 135 participants and we caught quite a few fish between all of those people, I think the number was 1000 fish and it was very successful for Quincy so that is a good thing. We will be doing that one again next year and it sounds like Griggs and the Knights of Columbus will be putting on the salmon derby next year. Lots of events to keep track of and of course we will be putting on a Salmon and derby July 13, 14, and 15 of next year. And the big news is that steelhead fishing has opened on the upper Columbia.
