Sign up begins for camelina incentive program

Washington Ag Today August 9, 2011 Washington farmers interested in growing camelina can now sign up through September 16th for the Biomass Crop Assistance Program or BCAP, at local Farm Service Agency offices. The program provides financial incentives for farmers to grow the oilseed crop, which will be used for aviation fuel.

To participate land must be within a project area of which there are two. AltAir LLC has ten-thousand acres available in all eastern Washington counties except, Kittitas, Klickitat and Yakima. Beaver Biodiesel LLC has one-thousand acres available in Whitman County in addition to those from AltAir.

Now the Stockland report.

This is Jack McQuinness here at Stockland Livestock in Davenport. Right at 400 cattle on the market here Monday. Real nice sale on the cows. We are going to call the cows four to five higher with a top of 82-dollars. Most the trade in the high 60s low 70s. Bulls topped at a dollar a pound for some nice muscled up bulls. Most of that trade in the 90s. Limited trade on the bulls. Feeder cattle, lot of demand for light calves up to a dollar-60 on calves weighing 4-500 pounds. Heifers trading ten to 15 back. Not enough yearlings for a test.

Don’t forget another dry cow and feeder special here next Monday, the 15th. That’s Stockland Livestock in Davenport. Thanks for listening.

Thanks Jack.
