7-21 FB ISDA CAFO Regs
Rules and regs for Idaho livestock producers. ISDA is actually reaching out and asking for input regarding CAFO operations.
If you are thinking about starting up a CAFO operation or expanding your present operation, the state of Idaho will have something to say about it according to some recent meetings. Here to explain is ISDA  spokesperson John Bilderback: “When a new or expanding CAFO site is asking for a permit from the county, they are asking the county then the County requests a citing for environmental risk assessment so the state had a definition of what a CAFO was depending on the species of animal and now we have also incorporated what the County’s definition of that is so the CAFO  citing team can make those evaluations  on facilities that are under what the state would consider a CAFO in terms of the size. For example the state defines a CAFO as 1000 animals but in Jerome County it might be 70 or 75 animals. Before we didn’t  really have the jurisdiction to do those citings and now we do, basically we are at the request of the County.
