Idaho Cattle Association, Looking Toward Future at Mid-Year Conference

The 2011 Idaho Cattle Association Mid-Year Conference  will be held June 21st-23rd  at the Cactus Pete’s Resort and Casino in Jackpot, Nevada. Idaho cattle producers are focusing on the future at this year’s conference, pinpointing a wide variety of topics that affect the outlook of Idaho’s cattle industry.  Highlights of the conference include various guest speakers, a range tour, golf tournament and barbeque.

Alex Avery, Director of Research and Education of the Hudson Institute Center for Global Food Issues, will be the conference’s keynote speaker. Avery’s passionate address will give cattle producers’ insight into why expanding and changing global populations will soon confirm the value in modern agricultural production. His 50-year projections for global food and animal protein demand specifically break down why beef producers will become immensely valuable in the near future.  Avery will also be illustrating how grain-finished cattle have a smaller greenhouse gas footprint than that of grass-fed cattle. The ICA encourages all cattle producers to come learn more about the expectations of their operations as we look to conscientiously meet our future global food challenges.

Here’s Here’s Jessie Thompson, Communications Coordinator for the Idaho Cattle Association to explain the importance of you cattlemen attending the meeting.“It’s really important for people to attend because it allows them the opportunity to network with other cattle producers from around the state and educate themselves about the new opportunities to ensure the future of their operation.
