IDAHO WATER RESOURCE BOARD Seeks Public Input on Draft Rathdrum Prairie Comprehensive Aquifer Management Plan.
The Idaho Water Resource Board (IWRB) is seeking public comment on the draft Comprehensive Aquifer Management Plan (CAMP) for the Rathdrum Prairie (RP) Aquifer. The draft RP CAMP contains projections for reliable sources of water 50 years in to the future, strategies to avoid conflicts over water resources, prioritization of future state investments in water, and methods to bridge the gaps between future water needs and supply. I asked Idaho Water Resource Board spokesperson Helen Harrington if the aquifer was important for agriculture: ” they estimated a little over 12,000 acres of irrigation for agriculture currently. Is this a healthy aquifer? This is a marvelous, prolific, productive aquifer and it has a very good supply of water in it.
