The Coalition for Agriculture’s Future recently announced The Canyon County Planning and Zoning Board has been asked to not approve a proposed  new Comprehensive Plan until it meets the enhanced additional agricultural protection requirements outlined in a revised state local land use planning act passed by the Idaho Legislature and signed into law by the Governor.

Coalition for Agriculture’s Future  Executive Director Roger Batt asked in a letter to Canyon County P & Z to not approve adoption of the proposed Comprehensive Plan until more time is allowed by Development Services Department for the consideration of additional language to be incorporated in the Comprehensive Plan for Agriculture. Here’s George Crookham, Chairman for Coalition for Agriculture’s Future: “Our concern pertains to House Bill 148. House Bill 148 which passed with the majority in the Senate and the legislature is there to help protect property as it pertains to good planning. Our focus is mainly on the agricultural segment. House Bill 148 also requires that agriculture be considered as a component in the ordinances and comprehensive plan.
