More organic initiative funding

Washington Ag Today April 14, 2011 Another funding opportunity for certified organic producers and those transitioning to organic production to implement resource conservation practices has been announced by USDA’s Natural Resources Conservation Service.

While applications are accepted on a continuous basis, the cutoff date for this application period is May 20, 2011.

Washington State Assistant State Conservationist for Programs, Dave Brown, says there has been a strong interest in the program and this new opportunity will allow more producers to receive technical and financial assistance for the Organic Initiative, addressing a wide-range of resource concerns.

Organic Initiative funding is provided through NRCS’ Environmental Quality Incentives Program. Producers interested in applying are urged to contact their nearest USDA-NRCS Service Center Office.

Now this from Stockland Livestock.

“This is Jack McQuiness here at Stockland Livestock in Davenport. Right at 600 head of cattle on the market this week. Good sale. Cows and bulls fully steady with what we have seen the last couple of weeks. Best of the cows into the mid-80s. Bulls topped at $1.06. Real nice big Angus bull from the Timm brothers north of town. Most of the feeder cattle selling on a steady market and continued good demand for all the lightweight grass type cattle. Big sale here next week. Special feeder cattle sale. We will have cow-calf pairs and feeder cattle of all weights and sizes. That’s Stockland Livestock here in Davenport. Thanks for listening. Thanks for your business.

Thanks Jack.
