4-8 FB FFA Kids

4-8 FB FFA Kids

So many of today’s adolescents seemed lost, hanging around on Facebook or nonstop texting.  Alcohol and substance abuse amongst teenagers in Idaho is rampant. But there’s something about FFA kids that’s refreshing. I’ve been around a lot of FFA kids and I will tell you, they look you in the eye, they say yes sir, no sir, and they are great. I’m not saying that other kids aren’t but there’s just something special about FFA kids. I asked Gov. Otter about that: “For the most part they are rural kids. Families are close, communities are close, being raised on farms and ranches, they are self-sufficient, they know they have chores to do, they’ve got responsibilities, they’ve got to make contributions to the family unit, to each other and when one farmer has a problem, whether it’s an injury or a broken piece of equipment, the farmer next door comes over and helps them farm even though he can be viewed as a competitor. I had a great experience after my state of the state message and I talked a lot about family and individual responsibility and community responsibility. So as it relates to the contribution of FFA kids to America? There is great promise in Idaho and there is great promise all across the nation.
