4-4 FB Go Corn

Idaho certainly is not the biggest producer of corn in the United States but as farmers look to what to plant, I’ll tell you one thing, they ought to have corn at the forefront of their minds.  I’m David Sparks and I will tell you why in just a minute.  I’ve been saying this for about six months, corn, corn and more corn. Talking to Ag economists, between ethanol production and the strong need for livestock feed, corn prices are going up. As farmers get ready to go to the field - AgWeb's 2011 Planting Intentions Survey says farmers plan to plant more corn this year. AgWeb Editor Greg Vincent has the details: “We’re looking at coming in with  91.16 million acres of corn which is up about 3.37 to be exact, so are looking at an increase in acreage of corn, we’ve got 99 data points in that data base that we ask producers when they’re filling out their subscriptions for the magazines that we produce and we sent this survey to any corn grower in the U.S. basically if you had at least 1 acre of corn last year we sent you the survey and those were the responses we got. We’ve got about a 4% margin of error in this which is extremely close, it’s not uncommon for a lot of people in the trade to miss it by over 1,000,000 acres.” So there you have it from guys who are apparently in the know corn, corn, corn.
