Will Legislature go to overtime?

Washington Ag Today March 31, 2011 It is not yet clear when legislative leaders in the state House and Senate will unveil budget proposals for the next biennium which begins this summer. Lawmakers need to address a five-billion dollar plus deficit. The regular session ends April 24th and farmer and Republican State Senator Mark Schoesler says he’s already heard some talk about needing a special session.

Schoesler: “But is troubling to me that some of the key leaders in the legislature already hinting that we may not get our work done, we may be in overtime. Usually that thing is put off til the waning days. I think instead of bemoaning the possibility of a special session they should be working even harder to find solutions.”

The House is supposed to put out a budget first this session but Schoesler says if they don’t act the Senate may have too.

Now this from Stockland Livestock.

This Jack McQuiness with Stockland Livestock here in Davenport. Good sale here this past Monday. Five hundred head. Cows and bulls stronger again. A couple dollars higher, back into the 80s for a lot of the cows and into the 90s for the best of the heavy beef bulls. Lot of feeder cattle, a lot of those calves selling on a steady market. This coming Monday shaping up to be a great sale. We have over 150 head of bred cows and cow-calf pairs on the books. We have 4-500 head of feeder cattle so we are looking for good numbers for our sale on Monday. The market is in great shape. You can call us anytime at 509-535-2444.

Thanks Jack.
