3-30 FB Mutant Fruit

3-30 FB Mutant Fruit

If your vegetable garden produces odd looking vegetables don’t give up… photograph them before you eat them. I’m David Sparks and that story is next. Is your Russett  ready for its close up?  Chances are if your tator's not in good shape and good looking it will never see the flourescent light of day found at your local supermarket.   Consumers have become accustomed to certain looks for certain foods, be it fruits, roots or vegetables, but one artist is turning mutants into art and money. I ran across this crazy looking article. The title was Mutato project celebrating imperfect beau… that is beau as in beautiful in French. Anyway, Mutato is a project by German artist Uli Westphal that captures photographic images of a collection of non-standard fruits, roots & vegetables. The produce displays a confounding variety of shapes and forms that result from natural, botanical anomalies, which rarely (if ever) make their way onto grocery store shelves. And talk about being politically correct… The Mutato-Project serves to document, preserve and promote these last remainders of agricultural diversity.
