Candidates for AgForestry Leadership Program being recruited
Washington Ag Today February 18, 2011 Recruitment for AgForestry Leadership Class 34 is in full swing. The Washington State Potato Commission is encouraging the agricultural industry to help develop future leaders by nominating candidates for the program. The commission supports the AgForestry program financially and also by nominating potato industry members. With leadership needed at every level in a civilized society, program graduates are providing their skills and talents as county commissioners, school board members, on planning and economic development teams, and as entrepreneurs and directors of corporations and commodity organizations. Course work includes communication skills, agribusiness issues, social and civic issues, interpersonal skills, and personal and unit vision building, as well as meeting leaders, local to worldwide, and spending up to two weeks in a foreign country, learning its culture and government. The deadline for receiving completed applications in the Foundation office is April 30, 2011. Fellowship application forms and instructions can be obtained from the website,
