You can call it global warming or not. That’s political. But one things for sure. There are some crazy weather patterns that have the potential to devastate wide land masses under agricultural production. How do we protect against weather? Farm indoors. That’s a growing trend that includes a business called The Farmery which is currently in the development stage. Ben Greene is Founder and Initial Chief Executive Officer. Ben was raised on an organic farm and worked in a hydroponic store while pursuing his Master's of Industrial Design at North Carolina State University. He is a veteran of Iraq and received his Master's of Industrial Design at North Carolina State University where he designed the Farmery as part of his thesis. Ben and his team will soon be constructing the first prototyping of the Farmery. Here’s Ben: “I’m trying to re-invent small farming to better compete in an industrial farm economy by using low cost shipping containers and integrating the growing and the selling model together.” Now if you understood that on the first take you’re a lot smarter than me. But I’ve had a chance to look at the web site and basically Ben is growing produce indoors, using hydroponics and lights and then shipping the containers to the vendor. More tomorrow.
