12-30 FB ID Power & Digester

Anaerobic digesters must be the real deal…at least Idaho Power thinks they are.

Two years ago I did a story on a company out of California that would put up the money to install anaerobic digesters in dairy operations. The digesters process manure and turn it into electricity. Certainly the idea is fabulous meaning that dairy producers could generate revenue coming out both ends…literally. Well, I got a press release from Idaho Public Utilities Commission spokesperson Gene Fadness that said this: Idaho Power Company and AgPower Jerome LLC are asking state regulators to approve a sales agreement under which AgPower would sell energy to Idaho Power from an anaerobic digester project proposed to be built near Jerome. In my mind that means these things really work and Gene Fadness says there are criteria built into the contracts to insure that: “If Idaho Power filed a complaint against a project because he wasn’t meeting his online date or he wasn’t producing the output, they have penalties built into the contracts if they aren’t.”
