12-31 FB Bio-Tech Makes Sense

 American farmers are choosing genetically engineered crops over conventional counterparts, according to a recently released USDA report.??USDA’s report, Adoption of Genetically Engineered Crops in the U.S. found that:

Adoption of genetically engineered soybeans is 93 percent in 2010.?(up from 91 percent in 2009)

 Adoption of all genetically engineered cotton climbed to 93 percent in 2010.?(up from 88 percent in 2009)

Adoption of all biotech corn reached 86 percent in 2010.?(up from 85 percent in 2009)

 Want to know why farmers seem to be accepting genetically engineered crops? Douglas R. Jones, Executive Director, of Growers for Biotechnology and long time Twin Falls Farmer as well as being a State Representative, can provide many reasons: “It’s environmentally friendly, reduces our carbon footprint, saves us money, and produces a high quality, high yielding crop to feed the world.”

Knowing also that farmers are looking to save money by cutting labor costs and pesticide use, genetically engineered crops appear to make a lot of sense.
