12-7 IAN Energy Efficiency

The Governor has an energy plan for Idaho that could be great for our economy. I’m DS….

We hear all sorts of stories about wind energy, bio-mass, nuclear, solar and you name it types of energy including ethanol from corn producers being put back in place in Idaho. Governor Otter is serious about all this as we hear from his Director of Energy Development, Paul Kjellander: “The Governor is launching for a new energy efficiency institute and that will be governed through the center for advanced energy studies. What this does is push Idaho down the road to being a leader in energy efficiency. Governor Otter is fond of saying that energy efficiency is the low hanging fruit in the energy orchard and this is an example of his putting his efforts where his thoughts and ideas are. This is going to be a public private partnership. The benefit from an economic development perspective is if we can bundle up that energy savings and have sustainable, measurable energy sufficiency, that then is power that we can go out and market to attract new business to come to the State of Idaho. That is something that will pull us out of the recession much more quickly than other states.”
