I once had a professor in Grad School who was a proponent of the theory (I had to use that big word in order to get some benefit from my education…but I digress) My professor use to say the best science is simple science. In other words, keep it simple stupid. Well I have found the most brilliant idea from scientists that I’ve heard in a long time. Scientists are trying to improve pastures by introducing beneficial plants - and they’re using the cattle to do it. Here’s researcher Scott Kronberg: “The idea is to use cattle to establish beneficial plants in a pasture by feeding the seeds to the cattle and they poop them out a day or two later and the seeds germinate in the cow pie and plants will grow from those with their own little fertilizer source and turn into new plants.” Kronberg is now working on coating the seeds before they are fed to the cattle - so more of the seeds will make it through the digestive tract to be planted by the cows.
