8-16 FB Russian Wheat

The world of wheat. High prices, drought, great yields…what a story. I’m David Sparks I’ll be right back to explain. There are extreme drought conditions in Russia and the Ukraine - which have reduced the wheat crop and stopped grain exports from the region. The disaster for them has brought U.S. prices for wheat up. Here’s Idaho Wheat Commission Executive Director Blaine Jacobson:  “Over the last couple of months as a drought has gripped their primary wheat growing region in Russia, it has started to diminish that supply and then wildfires have wiped out 1/3 of their crop, that is what has cause the wheat prices in the last couple of weeks to spike up a couple of bucks a bushel.” And Idaho wheat farmers have to be pleased.
