Wine & Travel

Welcome to Vine to Wine this is your host Linda Moran today we are going to talk about wine and travel. I often find myself in the highly publicized part of Washington wine country Walla Walla, and today let's talk about two of my favorite restaurants. Whenever I travel, whether it is to one of the world's wine regions or a city that is new to me, I am always searching out places to enjoy new wines. Restaurants whether posh and sophisticated or just warm and down home will be of interest to me. For many years I have been visiting and working in Walla Walla Washington and I have seen restaurants come and go. However, two remain at the top of my list and apparently others feel the same as these spots have endured. First is Whitehouse Crawford. The food is fresh and inspired – just last week I had a sautéed green salad composed of spinach mustards greens and some other delicious spring treats. It was delightful, as was the rest of my meal halibut to die for. The restaurant's wine list is extensive and although it has many locally produced wines it also includes treasures from around the world. Another spot I visit often is Creektown, a spot out on Second Avenue; it is small but has a great outdoor patio. The menu is all good, I recommend you really pay attention to the specials; they are seasonal and show clever use of ingredients. The wine list is a bit more provincial than Whitehouse Crawford but the staff will tell you great stories about the local wines. If you have an experience that you would like to share, please jump on the internet Linda at vine to wine dot net! I am always open to recommendation! Good travels, good times and good wine await us all, and thanks for joining me on today's Vine to Wine.
