7-16 FB Mink vs. Development
Mink farm in Heyburn says that a proposed development near their property could ruin the love lives of their animals. Result: Fewer mink stoles for the rich and famous. I’m David Sparks and I’ll tell you the story in a minute. The Moyle Mink and Tannery down in Heyburn is fighting a proposed development that could bring restaurants and possibly a hotel on property near there’s. Ryan Moyle, third generation owner of the business says there are two reasons for his objection to development: “They want to build a hotel and restaurants directly downwind of the facility and you don’t build restaurant downwind of a dairy. If they want to build a restaurant down there and individuals complain about the smell, there’s nothing we can do about it. The second opposition, there entire physiology is photo dependant and they only come into heat once a year and they only produce a winter coat once a year and that is all dependant on the gradual change of natural lighting between winter and summer. With lights coming into their facility all night long, they won’t reproduce.
