More Farm Bureau Workshops

More Farm Bureau Workshops. I'm Greg Martin with today's Fruit Grower Report. The Washington State Farm Bureau is working hard to make sure that ag employers are kept up to date on the latest information when it comes to labor according to Dan Fazio with Farm Bureau. FAZIO: We're pretty excited, Greg. This month we're doing a series of webinars – as a matter of fact eight in total. Five of them are about leadership in the workplace and then two of them are "Your Accountants Perspective," kind of advice for agricultural employers on some of the recent changes in the laws or new laws. The webinars are all free of charge and they are being held in conjunction with LeMaster Daniels. FAZIO: The first one is Thursday, June 10 and it's going to cover the HIRE Act which is a new federal program that allows all employers including agricultural employers to get a tax credit of 6.2%, the FICA tax credit for every person you hire after February 2nd of this year – throughout the year. That includes all the seasonal workers farmers will be hiring this growing season. FAZIO: And then on Thursday, June 13th - a webinar about "Obamacare" or the new healthcare act and explaining to the new law and what employers need to be doing right now because some of these provisions are going into effect this year and next year and the year after that.
