June's Wet Weather

June's Wet Weather

June's Wet Weather. I'm Greg Martin with today's Fruit Grower Report. For many parts of the Pacific Northwest this spring has been a much wetter and cooler one than most and according to the Ag Network's meteorologist Tim Creek it just may continue a bit longer. CREEK: We have definitely seen a few wet month of May especially the second half of the month and to a degree this weather pattern is expected to continue into the first half of June. Now I will say this is that what we've seen over the last couple of weeks are storms that push into the area and at least 3 of these storms have dropped down into Northern California putting them in a position to throw moisture up at our region from the south, southeast and east and that has resulted in some moderate to even heavy rainfall at times. The general pattern is going to be the same. What we are looking at is a cut off pattern where storms push into the area, they lose any real strong driving winds in the upper and as a result they sit and spin over the area for a prolonged period of time. But Creek does say that all things come to an end. CREEK: I do see enough changes in the pattern that I expect we are going to see less of a frequency of storm activity and each storm that does move into the area will not nearly as strong as they have been. So for June we will continue to see an unsettled situation during the first half of the month. Precipitation amounts should be near normal or above normal. That's today's Fruit Grower Report. I'm Greg Martin on the Ag Information Network.
