Idaho wineries reveal their new vintages this spring season!

The grapes have been picked, the barrels have been emptied, and the bottles have been filled. Once again, spring is upon us, and with a new season come new and exciting wines. The vines are awakening, and the buds are about to break and Idaho wineries are saying this is the time to visit and enjoy the wonderful weather with the newest releases available.

As with every year, tasting and determining your favorite wines is a challenge and the Idaho Grape and Wine Commissions Moya Shatz says this is the time to taste some of the new and best wines Idaho has to offer at various wineries. There are now 42 wineries and many applications are for new vineyards have been filed. Gena Davis of Davis Creek Cellars is excited about the 2009 harvest: “Things are looking really good for the 2009 vintage. A lot of us are just starting to release a few whites from that and the reds are in the barrel now. It looks like it’s gonna be a good year. We had a cool rainy spring and we had a couple of cold snaps in the fall but nothing that took the foliage off and we actually ripened everything including our cabernet. It looks like we’ll have a little lower alcohol than we have in the past cause things weren’t maybe as ripe as we’ve done in the past but physiologically, things are ripe and have nice flavors.”
