Health Insurance 1
U. S. Representative from Idaho, Mike Simpson doesn’t want it. But he’s a Republican and none of them want it. But U.S. Representative Walt Minnick’s a Democrat. A lot of them want it but not Walt. I’m David Sparks with a look at the health care bill in a minute. Oh that’s right, I forgot Governor Otter. He has joined up with a lot of other states in order to sue the U.S. Government so they can’t force a national health care bill down our throats or up our…nose. However, new health care reform is, at least for now, the law of the land and while few will argue that the system had big problems, farmers and ranchers worry that the fix will hurt them too. “Farmers and ranchers don’t like the idea that the government is telling them that they have to have insurance. Insurance is expensive. If farmers and ranchers could afford it now they would probably cover themselves and their families. There’s no way to insure that prices won’t go up so if the government tells you you have to buy something you can’t afford and you’re on a tight profit margin like a farmer or a rancher, then you feel a big pinch.” That’s American Farm Bureau Health Policy Specialist Pat Wolff who also says that farmers and ranchers, like other small businesses have been forced to pay a lot more for health insurance coverage than big businesses. There’s another new law that tries to ease that burden with something called an exchange. Talk about that tomorrow.
