Job Forum

Job Forum

Farm Service Agency and USDA trying to create rural jobs. USDA Rural Development State Director Wally Hedrick and FSA State Executive Director Dick Rush recently announced that USDA will hold a forum on job creation and economic growth at the College of Western Idaho in Nampa on January 14, 2010. The forum will go from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and follows the Forum on Jobs and Economic Growth that President Obama hosted at the White House December 3, 2009.

This forum is intended to provide an opportunity for residents, business owners and community leaders across the state to share ideas on creating jobs and economic opportunities with the thinking being that the best ideas for continued growth and job creation come from local and community leaders. USDA's Farm Services Agency Executive Director points out it’s an opportunity for a wide spectrum of rural residents: “It’ll be agriculture and rural businesses that come together so it’s not just totally agriculture.”

Walt Minnick who sits on the House Agriculture Committee and the House Financial Services Committee has agreed to attend the forum. Participants will discuss steps that can to be taken to grow the economy and put Americans back to work.
