Chicken Protestors
When does it end? Schoolchildren getting a handslap for raising chickens and then having the monstrous idea of eating them. I’ll be right back with the gory details. A Virginia-based poultry protection group has condemned a Community School project in which chickens were raised and later slaughtered to teach eighth-graders about the realities of food production.
"This is an issue of both animal abuse and child abuse and we're going to do all that we can do to prevent it from happening again." said Karen Davis, president of United Poultry Concerns. United Poultry Concerns is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the compassionate and respectful treatment of chickens, turkeys, ducks and other domestic fowl and promote the benefits of a vegan diet and lifestyle. Understand…I’m not against vegans. The reason I say (hah-hah) is that we’ve talked in the past about other non-profit organizations whose lawyers bill…make that bilk the government at a rate of $650/hr to stop anything and everything that they consider non-environmentally sound. Last year we paid $4.7 billion to lawyers who mainly campaigned against agriculture. Getting back to how cruel it is to eat chicken…here’s Jack Merrill, President of the Idaho Poultry Farmers Association: “The thing that sums it up the best is a T-shirt that says I didn’t make it this far up the evolutionary chain to become a vegetarian.”
