Oregon/Idaho Grains Conference

Oregon/Idaho Grains Conference

Farm and Ranch November 30, 2009 The Idaho Grain Producers Association and the Oregon Wheat Growers League, along with wheat and barley producers from throughout the Pacific Northwest, will converge upon the Coeur d’Alene Resort Hotel in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho for this year’s Oregon/Idaho Grains Conference. The event begins tomorrow and runs through Thursday.

Travis Jones, executive of the Idaho Grain Producers highlights some of the events for the conference, which has the theme of “Keys to Success-Partnerships, Education and Networking.

Jones: “Hopefully we get a lot of growers up there to see Baxter Black, who as everyone knows is a cowboy poet from the West and we have Lt. General Fred Rees. He is well known for his motivational speaking. Then we are also featuring our Idaho EPA director Jim Werntz who is going to talk about EPA and their activities with agriculture. Along with that comes just a ton of workshops that are really about relevant issues growers are facing these days. So we hope we get a lot of people there, both growers and industry.”

Some of the workshop topics include crop insurance, marketing tools, conservation programs, barley and wheat research and the river closure. Attendees will also get updates from national wheat and grain organizations.

That’s the Oregon/ Idaho Grains Conference tomorrow through Thursday at the Coeur d’ Alene Resort.
