Davis Creek Vineyard

Davis Creek Vineyard

This is the tale of an Idaho girl named Gina Davis. She’s the owner of Davis Creek Cellars, which is a winery in Marsing. Gina acquired her general agricultural knowledge in Sand Hollow, ID with her parents and older brother on their family farm.  She graduated from High School, and went on to study Horticulture and Crop Science at University of Idaho where she graduated with a Bachelors in 2003. With her college sheepskin in hand, Gina got jobs at various Idaho wineries, including St. Chappelle, Sawtooth and Koenig before starting her own. I recently had a chat with her. “Sounds like you were born to be a little old winemaker. Not exactly. Being a winemaker, unless you have a family member or know somebody, it doesn’t exactly when you’re 5 you’re sitting on your parent’s lap saying you know I think I’m going to be a winemaker when I grow up…I think they would have been a little mortified.”

I don’t know about that given that Gina’s mom works with her at Davis Creek Cellars. Plus…the awards. “We entered some wines in the Idaho Annual Wine Festival and got several golds on the 2007 Tempranillo, Silver on the Syrah and the Rose Syrah and then Bronze on Viognier, Boise Blanco Riesling and Cabernet. We got medals on everything we entered.”
