Twin Falls Cheese Company

 “Glanbia Foods is the world’s largest producer of American-style cheddar cheese and they recently won a record-breaking eight awards for making cheese. “We’re an Irish company” As if you couldn’t guess from the brogue from John Lanigan Vice President of Cheese Operations for Glanbia…“Glanbia is 2 words together meaning pure food. Glanbia Foods started making cheese in the Magic Valley in 1990.”

 And there’s a good reason that a cheese making company transplanted itself from Ireland all the way to Idaho.

 (Lanigan ) “People don’t realize that actually  Idaho’s the third largest milk producer in the country.  So it’s a cheese state as well. It’s actually taken over, Idaho for many years was known as the potato state but it’s the cheese state now.”

 I don’t know if our potato farmers would totally agree with that but the facts are that Glanbia’s Twin Falls plant has earned a record number of medals this year for producing superior quality cheeses.

 “When you go to a cheese judging contest are the judges mice? “No the judges are not mice, they’re experts from all over the world. Each judge would have many number of years of experience in particular cheeses.”

And how does a guy from County KeKenny feel about living in Idaho? “I’ve decided to stay cause I like it so much.”
