Father's Day

Father's Day

Welcome to Vine to Wine this is your host Linda Moran. Today we are answering a question from the email asking about gift suggestions for the upcoming Father’s Day.

Father’s Day is a few days away, if your father is a wine lover I think there are many items to consider as gifts. I recommend one of the most interesting wine decanters I have ever seen. It is an orbital decanter and it was designed by a ship captain. It rolls around on the table without spilling. Plus the action aerates the wine beautifully. In fact, if you pour a glass upon opening the wine, then pour the remainder into the decanter and send it for a spin – the comparison of the two wines will amaze your Dad.

It is also nice to select a few bottles of wine made from the same type of grape but from different countries. Syrah is all the rage and if you compare an Australian Shiraz a Washington Syrah a French Rhone and a California Syrah it could be a great package. Go onto the net and get information about each one of them to make the tasting comparison even more interesting. Obviously your Dad will need to have a few friends over to help him with this project. If he is a lover of wine but doesn’t have any really good wine glasses that would be a truly perfect gift. Large format bottles are impressive. They are usually special orders at your local wine merchant or can be purchased directly from the winery. Whatever you decide don’t forget a really nice card! Remember to send your wine questions to Linda at vine to wine dot net and thanks for joining me on today’s Vine to Wine.
