Nez Perce Farm Safety Fair
Children living in rural areas are at greater risk of unintentional injury-related death than children living in urban areas. Each year 70 children ages 14 and under die from injuries occurring on a farm. Children account for almost 20 percent of all agricultural injury fatalities and hospitalizations. Yes, the statistics are sobering. Everyone in agriculture knows someone whose life has been affected by a farm-related injury or death. Even more tragic is that these incidents could have been prevented if simple safety precautions had been followed. That's why the Progressive Agriculture Foundation is on a crusade for farm safety and health.?And they have a Safety Day coming up. Here’s Shari Kuther Coordinator. “It’s a day where kids and their parents and family can come and learn about the different safety hazards and dangerous situations on a farm. We talk about not onlt PTO’s, pinch points like belts and pullies, chains and sprockets, but we also talk about ATV’s, the purpose behind wearing helmets, We talk about water safety, we try to have all kinds of hands on fun interactive sessions for the kids”
