Kids Farm Safety Day

Kids Farm Safety Day

“We usually lose at least one child a season to a farm or rural related accident. Well if we can keep one kid from injury or preventing a death, then we’ve done our job.”  That’s Safe Kids Director Page Geske who maintains that Magic Valley kids come face to face with agriculture all the time and should be aware of the risks associated with the industry.

That's why the coalition hopes parents will register their children for the annual Farm Safety Day. The event aims to teach kids how to enjoy their surroundings while remaining safe. Information will be presented to kids between eight and 12 year at the Jerome fair grounds on May 30th and the event is free. Kids will receive a free t-shirt, lunch and snacks, while volunteers provide lessons on the importance of being safe on farm and work sites.

Workshops will include animal safety, Other workshops include the scene of an accident, machinery safety, fire safety, as well as canal and water safety. To register your kids for Farm Safety Day call 208-829-5369. This information is also on our web site…aginfo.net.
